FESCO, an acronym for Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, is the sole electric supply company based in Faisalabad, Pakistan. The FESCO load-shedding schedule was recently announced to ensure an equitable distribution of electricity for the entire customer base and to provide an uninterrupted electric supply throughout the city. This load-shedding schedule has mainly been provided to curb the electricity load and demand in the city so that the electricity can be supplied evenly and unused energy can be reallocated to other areas. It is noteworthy to mention here that load-shedding has become very common in Pakistan due to the over-consumption of electricity in some parts of the country. The primary goal of this load-shedding plan is to implement an equitable and efficient energy distribution pattern in the areas of the city that require electricity. It should also be noted that FESCO has been undertaking these load-shedding plans for the past few years as a measure to prevent further electricity over-consumption in the city. To ensure the implementation of this plan, FESCO has stipulated a specific schedule the customers have to follow depending on their respective areas.
Out of the total 24-hour period, each customer is allocated a specific time frame during which they are supplied with electricity. This time is further segregated into four-time slots, ranging from peak hours to off-peak hours. During the peak hours 6:00 AM to 3:00 AM, the electricity demand is usually higher; hence the load-shedding hours are longer during these peak hours. Similarly, the customers who live in remote areas of Faisalabad will be allocated electricity for a few hours of the night-time, i.e.; between 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Moreover, the FESCO load-shedding schedule is subject to change depending on electricity demand, weather conditions, peak hours, and other similar factors. Therefore, the customers must stay updated with the latest FESCO load-shedding schedule to avoid any inconvenience. FESCO’s load-shedding schedule reveals the determination and strategy of the company in providing equitable electricity distribution to all of its customers. Furthermore, this load-shedding schedule has also become an invaluable tool in preserving electricity and preventing further abnormal usage in the region.
