Electricity Production in Pakistan Recently
As we know the Country demands the production of up to forty-one thousand mega watt. Right now Pakistan is making about twenty-five thousand megawatts. Only eight thousand megawatts of electricity are being produced by water. Up to three thousand six hundred megawatts of electricity is being produced by the governmental power thermals. IPPs are producing electricity of about thirteen thousand five hundred megawatts.
Recent Issue of IPPs in Pakistan
In the different eras of political times in Pakistan different political parties have done the agreement with the higher-producing electricity companies in Pakistan. Many agreements have been made with these electricity-producing companies. And even some agreements have been done for up to 2057 year means that agreements have been done for the next 35 years. It means that now the government will pay them according to the agreement. The recent issue with IPPs is that they are getting the payment but they are not producing proper electricity which is leading to the increase in electricity rate in Pakistan recently. Now the Citizens are concerned because of the high rates of electricity bills and they are now raising a question that how come this has been done without any warning. Citizens are raising questions that all these past governments and policymakers are not responsible for this. Why they didn’t fulfill their responsibilities and why they made any changes as time passed by? And now What will be the future of IPPs in Pakistan?
